1B Narrative.

'Apply the concept of narrative to one piece of coursework'
  • Levi Strauss - Binary Opposites.
  • Barthes - Codes.
  • Torodov - Equilibrium.
  • Propps - Characters.
Introduction.
What was it? Music video/ Film opening, briefly describe the content / plot.

Levi Straus -  Binary opposites, night and day in Mya's music video.
Barthes - Enigma codes, questions you make the audience ask themselves. Audience intrigued my Mya, who is she? Potentially lead them to searching for Mya's website to learn more about her and also look at her social media accounts.
Torodov - Equilibrium - no disruptions in our music video so talk about how we use the lip syncing in our music video to break it up to keep the audience engaged and not bored. We challenge and develop Torodov's theory in a different way. We do not disrupt the equilibrium, we disrupt the narrative.
Propp - Characters. Throughout our video there were only the 3 girls in the film there were no men in our film or video, we were not trying to impress anyone, particularly boys.

  1. Firstly what happens in your video and what is the time frame?
You can expand on the opposites like exiting and entering, there are a few.
The equilibrium is disrupted by moving from one sequence to the next and different experiences being had.
    Equal characters with similar values.
